THYS-KANAMORI BANDO is the result of a collaboration between saxophonist and bass clarinettist Toine Thys and renowned Japanese double bassist Motoï Kanamori. Beyond borders and cultural differences, the two musicians have established a deep and immediate musical connection. This understanding is cemented by a shared artistic sincerity, rigorous technical precision and a communicative energy that can be felt at every moment.

To give this new formation its full measure, the duo has surrounded itself with the cream of the new generation of Belgian and international jazz. The prodigious pianist Wajdi Riahi, whose incisive musicality has conquered European stages, enriches the quartet with a harmonic richness and inventiveness that never ceases to surprise. They are joined by the highly talented Portuguese drummer Diogo Alexandre, unanimously acclaimed for the intensity and finesse of his musicality.

The result of this synergy is a resolutely acoustic and daring jazz. The quartet's concerts are renowned for their generosity, authenticity and the joy they exude, offering a vibrant musical experience to the audience. There are high expectations for their first album, scheduled for release on Hypnote Records in 2026.
