TOINE THYS & MOTOÏ KANAMORI BANDO is the result of a collaboration between saxophonist and bass clarinetist Toine Thys and the renowned Japanese double bassist Motoï Kanamori. A deep connection, cemented by shared sincerity and rigorous execution precision, has been established between the two musicians, transcending borders and cultures.

To give shape to this new formation, Toine Thys and Motoï Kanamori enlisted the new elite generation of Belgian jazz. On piano, the prodigy Wajdi Riahi brings harmonic richness and inventiveness, recognized for having captivated stages both solo and in a trio. On drums, the highly promising Portuguese drummer Diogo Alexandre is unanimously hailed for his intensity and musicality.

They will perform a series of concerts to present their debut album (on Hypnote Records) in December 2026.
